Friday 30 December, 2011 Prior to the Feast of the Holy Family, the whole community prepared for this day by making a novena to pray for the needs of families. This morning the Sisters rose early to say morning Office and to attend Mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa Polish War Memorial Chapel which was offered in the intentions of every Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Since we were expecting seven guests for lunch, preparations in the kitchen continued. The team made salads, roasted ham, platters of fruit and cakes and then the table was set.
Sister Helen Tereba, Assistant General, is visiting her family who live in Australia. She was the first of the guests to arrive. Soon after came Sisters Lois Ann Richardi, Lucyna Fraczek, Malgorzata Kozub, and Anita Litwin. Sister Rosanne Marie Sinclair and Sister Christine Ramada came from Castle Hill. Sister Joanna Zarzyczna was the last to arrive, because she and Sister Julia Deptula were working at Holy Family Services.
After lunch, Sister Helen Tereba presented pictures from Ghana and told the Sisters about her experiences and those of her travel companion Sister Miriam Mikol.
In the afternoon the Missionary Sisters of Christ the King visited the Sisters at Queen of Poland Convent. Sister Benedetta Pasinska MChR Australian Delegate of the Superior General and two Sisters of her community enjoyed hospitality of afternoon tea and then joined the Sisters in the evening meal. Later that evening the Sisters attended the Carols by Candlelight at the Our Lady of Czestochowa War Memorial Chapel. They commented that they enjoyed the three hour performance.
